Nonprofit Formation and Development
Laying the groundwork for impactful nonprofits
A nonprofit organization is an entity established to serve a public or social cause, rather than to generate profit. Under the guidance of a Board of Directors, nonprofits operate with a mission to address community needs, promote education, health, the arts, or other societal benefits.
A worker self-directed nonprofit is a type of nonprofit organization where the employees have an active role in governing and managing the organization. This model empowers workers to make decisions about the nonprofit’s operations, policies, and direction, promoting a democratic and inclusive workplace culture.
Services offered:
Preparation and planning: We help you navigate whether a for-profit or nonprofit entity best suits your goals and business model, taking into account your mission, the services you intend to offer, and whether your income is likely to come from direct services or from grants and donations.
Nonprofit formation: Forming a nonprofit typically involves organizing a nonstock or not-for-profit corporation and then applying for tax exempt status. We help you navigate the formation process as well as preparing your application with the IRS.
Establishing governance: Your bylaws serve as the foundation of your nonprofit, outlining rights and responsibilities within the organization as well as how important decisions are made. If your organization is a Worker Self-directed Nonprofit, your bylaws will establish or point to the specific self-direction processes that you have adopted for your organization.
